We recommend SASMO (April) as the most popular and well-recognised competition, SMKC (March) for building confidence, and RIPMWC (June) for top performers. For P5-6 students applying through DSA, having results from 2-3 different competitions strengthens the portfolio. We guide parents on registration timelines and appropriate competition selection.

Ideally, start DSA-specific preparation at the beginning of Primary 5 (January/February). This provides approximately 18 months before DSA applications open in May of Primary 6. However, students with prior Math Olympiad experience may start intensive DSA prep later, around mid-Primary 5, as they already possess strong foundational skills.

Our DSA programme includes mock interviews simulating actual assessment conditions, training in articulating mathematical thinking (assessors want to hear your process), practice explaining solutions verbally, guidance on presenting mathematics portfolio effectively, and school-specific tips based on our tutors’ experience with different institutions.

Yes, subject to class availability. We provide catch-up materials for topics covered in earlier lessons and our tutors offer support to help new students integrate smoothly. For DSA preparation specifically, we recommend joining no later than mid-Primary 5 to ensure adequate preparation time.

Math Olympiad training is specifically designed for students with above-average mathematical ability. Unlike general enrichment which may cover school topics at a deeper level, Olympiad training introduces entirely new concepts (number theory, combinatorics, logical reasoning) and focuses on competition-specific problem-solving strategies. The pace is faster and questions are significantly more challenging.
