Biology Tuition: Sequence of Teaching Topics

See the centre teaching sequence our Biology classes use across Sec 3 to JC 2, informed by Singapore IP, O-Level and A-Level school topic progressions.

Structured & School-Aligned

How Our Biology Syllabus Is Organised

This Biology topic sequence is Future Academy’s centre teaching sequence. It takes into account common teaching progressions used by Singapore IP schools, O-Level schools and A-Level schools, so students can consolidate school learning, prepare for upcoming topics, or target revision where it matters most.

The actual class sequence may be adjusted by the teacher in charge for a specific class. This allows the tutor to respond to the students’ school pace, class readiness, exam schedule and weaker areas while keeping the overall curriculum coverage clear.

IP School Classes — Available Now

We run selected classes specifically designed for students in IP schools, matching the rigour and curriculum of Integrated Programme schools. Enquire with us to find out which IP classes are currently running.

How to Use This Biology Topic Sequence

This is Future Academy’s centre teaching sequence for Biology, informed by Singapore IP, O-Level and A-Level school topic progressions. Use it to organise a content-heavy subject into systems, processes and structured answers instead of memorising isolated phrases.

Connect terms to processes

Revise definitions with diagrams and process steps, so terminology is used accurately in structured answers.

Revise by system

Group cells, transport, nutrition, respiration, homeostasis, genetics and ecology into linked systems before full-paper practice.

Review answer phrasing

After practice, check missing keywords, vague comparisons, unclear diagrams and weak explanation chains.

Level-Specific Biology Guidance

Sec 3

Build terminology, diagrams and process explanation across cells, biological molecules, enzymes, transport and human systems.

Sec 4 / O-Level

Link genetics, reproduction, ecology and molecular genetics with application questions and structured answering.

IP Students

Expect unfamiliar diagrams, experimental setups, data trends and explanation questions that go beyond textbook phrasing.

JC / H2

Move into molecular techniques, genetics, respiration, photosynthesis, evolution, infectious disease and climate topics.

Use this Biology topic sequence for exam preparation alongside our IP Science tuition, O-Level tuition, IP tuition and A-Level tuition pages.

FAQ

Biology Topic Sequence FAQ

Common questions about using the Biology sequence for O-Level, IP and H2 revision planning.

Use the sequence to group related processes and systems before memorising details. Students should check whether they can define terms, draw or interpret diagrams, explain process steps and apply concepts to unfamiliar questions.

Biology exams often require students to apply terminology to diagrams, experiments, systems and data. Marks are usually earned through precise explanation, comparison and structured answer phrasing.

Students should practise labelling structures accurately, describing functions, and linking each diagram to the relevant process. Common mistakes include vague labels, missing units, and explanations that do not refer to the diagram.

Yes. IP and H2 Biology students can use the sequence to organise foundations before moving into molecular biology, genetics, evolution, infectious disease, data interpretation and longer structured-response questions.

Yes. This is our centre teaching sequence, but the teacher in charge may adjust the actual class order based on school pace, class readiness, upcoming exams and the topics students need most urgently.

Personalised for Each Student

Customisable Lesson Plans

Every student has a different starting point. Depending on each student’s needs, strengths, and weaker areas, our tutors adjust the pace and emphasis of topics within lessons. This may mean spending more time on a difficult chapter, revisiting earlier foundations, or fast-tracking ahead when a student is ready.

Our maximum teacher-to-student ratio of 1:6 makes this possible — there is enough individual attention for tutors to notice gaps and respond to them in the same lesson.

Want even more flexibility? One-on-one classes available.

Request specific topics, set your own pace, and receive undivided attention from your tutor. One-on-one tuition is available subject to teacher and timing availability. Additional class fees apply. WhatsApp us to enquire.

Centre Teaching Sequence

Topics are planned with Singapore IP, O-Level and A-Level school sequences in mind, with class-level adjustments made by the teacher in charge.

Maximum 1:6 Class Ratio

Our small-group model means tutors can adapt pace and focus for the students in the room — every lesson, every session.

Progress-Led Pacing

Tutors allocate more time to topics where students need it most, and move faster through areas the class has mastered.
