Chemistry Tuition: Sequence of Teaching Topics

See the centre teaching sequence our Chemistry classes use across Sec 3 to JC 2, informed by Singapore IP, O-Level and A-Level school topic progressions.

Structured & School-Aligned

How Our Chemistry Syllabus Is Organised

This Chemistry topic sequence is Future Academy’s centre teaching sequence. It takes into account common teaching progressions used by Singapore IP schools, O-Level schools and A-Level schools, so students can consolidate school learning, prepare for upcoming topics, or target revision where it matters most.

The actual class sequence may be adjusted by the teacher in charge for a specific class. This allows the tutor to respond to the students’ school pace, class readiness, exam schedule and weaker areas while keeping the overall curriculum coverage clear.

IP School Classes — Available Now

We run selected classes specifically designed for students in IP schools, matching the rigour and curriculum of Integrated Programme schools. Enquire with us to find out which IP classes are currently running.

Revision Planning

How to Use This Chemistry Topic Sequence

This is Future Academy’s centre teaching sequence for Chemistry, informed by Singapore IP, O-Level and A-Level school topic progressions. Use it to plan revision from foundations to application: master bonding, equations and mole concept before moving into qualitative analysis, organic chemistry and data-based questions.

Secure the chemical language

Revise atomic structure, bonding, formula writing, state symbols and balanced equations before calculation-heavy chapters.

Practise mole concept early

Use topical practice for mole ratios, concentration, gas volume and percentage purity before mixed exam questions.

Review observations and errors

For QA, organic chemistry and data-based questions, record wrong observations, missing ions and misconception patterns after each practice set.

Level-Specific Chemistry Guidance

Sec 3

Focus on atomic structure, bonding, formula writing, chemical equations and the mole concept as the foundation for later chapters.

Sec 4 / O-Level

Move into acids, bases, salts, qualitative analysis, rates, electrolysis, metals and organic chemistry with targeted topical practice.

IP Students

Expect faster transfer between bonding, periodicity, energetics, organic reasoning and unfamiliar data interpretation.

JC / H2

Connect equilibria, kinetics, energetics, electrochemistry and organic mechanisms with data-based and explanation questions.

Use this Chemistry topic sequence for O-Level and IP students alongside our IP Science tuition, O-Level tuition, IP tuition and A-Level tuition pages.

FAQ

Chemistry Topic Sequence FAQ

Common questions about using the Chemistry sequence for O-Level, IP and H2 revision planning.

Use the sequence to revise prerequisite topics before application chapters. Students should check atomic structure, bonding, formula writing, equations and mole calculations before attempting QA, electrolysis, organic chemistry or data-based questions.

They are the language and calculation base for the rest of Chemistry. Weaknesses here often reappear in acids and bases, redox, electrolysis, energetics, organic chemistry and H2 data questions.

Students should link each observation to the ion or gas being tested, write the correct inference, and review mistakes such as missing precipitate colours, wrong gas tests or incomplete ionic equations.

Yes. IP and H2 students can use the sequence to organise foundations before extending into energetics, equilibria, kinetics, electrochemistry, organic mechanisms and unfamiliar data interpretation.

Yes. This is our centre teaching sequence, but the teacher in charge may adjust the actual class order based on school pace, class readiness, upcoming exams and the topics students need most urgently.

Personalised for Each Student

Customisable Lesson Plans

Every student has a different starting point. Depending on each student’s needs, strengths, and weaker areas, our tutors adjust the pace and emphasis of topics within lessons. This may mean spending more time on a difficult chapter, revisiting earlier foundations, or fast-tracking ahead when a student is ready.

Our maximum teacher-to-student ratio of 1:6 makes this possible — there is enough individual attention for tutors to notice gaps and respond to them in the same lesson.

Want even more flexibility? One-on-one classes available.

Request specific topics, set your own pace, and receive undivided attention from your tutor. One-on-one tuition is available subject to teacher and timing availability. Additional class fees apply. WhatsApp us to enquire.

Centre Teaching Sequence

Topics are planned with Singapore IP, O-Level and A-Level school sequences in mind, with class-level adjustments made by the teacher in charge.

Maximum 1:6 Class Ratio

Our small-group model means tutors can adapt pace and focus for the students in the room — every lesson, every session.

Progress-Led Pacing

Tutors allocate more time to topics where students need it most, and move faster through areas the class has mastered.
